Crashes galore!

The race started fast, much faster than I was expecting. From the beginning on, I had a bad feeling about the stressy way some girls were behaving. So I kept in the first third of the bunch, knowing that most crashes happen behind. Turns out, it was the wrong decision for this race: all of the three massive crashes happened in the middle and the front of the bunch...

My goal was to finish the big lap of 38km in the bunch, but the first crash of the day (at about km 9 on a large road) happened just in front of me and I had to break down completely in order to avoid the riders lying on the ground. After that, the legs just gave out, especially because the first riders in the front continued to ride as fast as they did before. I tried to keep my mothers wheel when she caught me back, but I couldn't.

I waited for Martine Licker, but it was clear to me by then that we wouldn't even see past the beginning of the big lap. Shortly after crossing the finish-line for the first time, we were taken out of the race.
